About this event
The Masters of Tri Bike Camp starts with an initial bike assessment on a Wattbike (see Training Camps for more information) to establish training and racing levels – and ones that the coaches will use during the bike camp.
With the camp based at the Four Star Bonalba Hotel we have direct access into the local mountains and include riding famous climbs – many of which have featured in recent stages of La Vuelta, most notably in 2009, 2010, 2016 and 2017.
It is for this very reason that the Bonalba Hotel is used every year by many professional cycling teams (Team Belkin, Movistar, Caja Rural, Team Lotto NL) for their winter training camps – as well as the warm climate, spectacular riding and roads that are both perfect and quiet! Live like a pro – with over 80% of pro cycling teams – as well as triathletes Alistair and Jonny Brownlee – visiting the area every year!
During the camp, you will visit parts of Costa Blanca that other tourists can only dream about, passing through olive, orange and lemon groves and masses of almond trees, with beautiful mountain views and small villages. Rides will include the ascent of some iconic climbs, Puerto de la Carrasqueta, Puerto de Tudons, Puerto Benifallim, Alto de Torremanzanas amongst others – all having been used in previous Vuelta’s and Cat 1 or Cat 2 climbs.
The camp will include 5 days of riding, the first day being shorter as it also includes the Wattbike assessment. All rides will include a large amount of climbing and will be fully guided and supported. There will also be bike specific mobility work through the week to help recover – and preparation for the next ride!
Post rides, back at the Bonalba Hotel, there will be time to relax and recover with specific buffet meals for the group – catering for all dietary requirements – and discussions on training and nutrition.
The Masters of Tri seminar “library” will also be available if there is interest from the group to cover any specific topic, such as training effectively, nutrition, etc.
A massage is included in the camp on the last day to help recovery from the training; this is provided by our partnered physiotherapist who is very experienced in working with Olympic athletes.
The Four Star Bonalba Hotel will be the base for the training camp – with half board accommodation that includes a full and extensive breakfast allowing a mid-morning start to rides and a return to be ready for a full dinner in the evening. A shared twin room is included (as well as airport transfers from Alicante airport to the Bonalba Hotel and return – if within the camp dates) where all the facilities of a Four Start Hotel can be enjoyed – café lounge, bar, wifi and outdoor leisure pool.
Note: If you would like single room occupancy or any additional night(s) stay at the Bonalba hotel before or after your training camp, please place the booking now and advise us by email of the dates required.
