Sometimes we need to adapt to the environment, cus Sometimes we need to adapt to the environment, customise kit to make it work better, invest in unorthodox kit or make our unique training tools from scratch 🤷‍♂️

Some examples of adaptations and customising that goes on in the MoT Squad:

Wearing 2x7mm wetsuits, hoodie, gloves and boots to lake swim

Custom paddles to fit the athlete and meet the athletes needs

Combining paddles with stretch cord to do dry swimming while pools are closed

Mid-sole cleats for better STOMPing and body position

Buying bigger chainrings also to STOMP

A session co-hosted with Wolff Wear, to provide an hour of gentle swim training and input – some of the swimmers having been out of the pool for 4months due to the restrictions in place.

It was the perfect time to start fresh, to “forget” old things, demystify the swim stroke and start 2021 (and the future) with a simpler, more natural and logical outlook of the front crawl stroke

One part of the front crawl stroke is MASSIVELY over coached while one part of the stroke is under-utilised. For those that have met us and had coaching input, you should know which is which!

It’s easy to get stuck working long hours, at home or in the workplace. Getting sucked into a task and missing (IMPORTANT) standard routine such as lunchbreaks, training time or other life/family activities.

One of our MoT athletes has set a rule for himself, nicely summarised as:
-
“I make my lunchbreak between 11:30 and 12:30, no matter what! Sometimes you think you need to save the world… But then you realize nobody actually cares if you save the world 2 hours later”- @ernstzberg , the working philosopher / triathlete.
-
He is simply setting a rule that allows him to time manage his days and to function optimally – with work tasks, mental breaks, fuelling and training.

Learn to listen to your BODY, and to filter out your minds will – the ego, it is weak and always looks for the easiest option. Your body will tell you lots if you listen, lots of objective information

Form the habit of listening to your ego and quitting and it’ll become the norm, and you WILL carry the habit across to race day!

Listen to your body – muscles, joints, heart, lungs, etc – and control / tame your ego – race day performance DEPENDS on it…
